| October 19 | A Walk to Remember | Naperville Riverwalk Grand Pavilion | All are welcom to volunteer and to walk. |
Naperville's 4th Annual A Walk to Remember was held on Sunday, October 19, 2008, at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion in Naperville.
The Walk raised approximately $17,000 for the development of the Wings of Hope Angel Garden at Edward Hospital,
bringing the total money raised for the garden to more than $144,000 or 52% of our goal.
The garden will serve as a place of reflection and hope for grieving families whose lives have been touched by miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal loss,
while supporting the mission of the Edward Foundation SHARE Program with memorial donation opportunities.
The SHARE Program is a national and local non-profit pregnancy and infant loss support group.
Nearly 400 people attended the event, which included a memorial service featuring key-note speakers Sheila Rutledge,
affiliated photographer of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, and Dr. Donald Taylor, Edward Perinatology O/P Clinic,
DO Maternal & Fetal Medicine/DO Obstetrics and Gynecology. Ben Thomas of So Elated performed two incredible songs and Phillips Flowers & Gifts
generously donated beautiful long-stemmed white roses which were symbolically handed to the parents of more than 100 babies that we
walked to honor while their names were read.

Program
Naperville's 3rd Annual A Walk to Remember was held on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion in Naperville. The Walk raised approximately $25,000 for the development of the Wings of Hope Angel Garden at Edward Hospital. The garden will serve as a place of reflection and hope for grieving families whose lives have been touched by miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal loss, while supporting the mission of the Edward Foundation SHARE Program with memorial donation opportunities. The SHARE Program is a national and local non-profit pregnancy and infant loss support group.
Nearly 400 people attended the event, which included a moving memorial service featuring Linda DeYmaz, author of "Mommy, Please Don't Cry", as the keynote speaker. DeYmaz reflected on the journey of grief and search for hope that she embarked on after her daughter, Alexandra Grace, was stillborn on Easter morning in 1995. She also discussed her unfailing determination in getting her book published. "Mommy, Please Don't Cry" (Random House 1996) was a 2004 Retailers Choice Nominee and has been described as, "he best resource available today for women grieving the loss of a child." The memorial service also featured live music, poetry, and a reading of baby names before participants walked for the steps those babies will never take.
Corporate sponsors included: 95.9 FM The River WERV-FM; Children's Health Partners, S.C.; Edward Foundation; Francesca's Passaggio; Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home; K & D Enterprises; Mercer; Minuteman Press; The Naperville Sun; Naperville Women's Health Care, P.C.; and Women's Center OGM.
In 2006, we held the 2nd Annual A Walk to Remember in Naperville and it was a huge success. Together we raised over $20,000 to benefit Edward Foundation's SHARE Program. As promised, the developments of the Edward Hospital Angel Garden are well underway. Hitchcock Design Group, Inc. has graciously donated conceptual designs for the garden. A detailed update will be shared at this year's Walk.
Thank you to all of those incredible families who participated and helped us make the Walk a success! We remembered and honored our babies, while raising awareness and much needed funds to support the Edward Foundation SHARE Program!
Four moms, who had met through the Edward Foundation SHARE Program, wanted to make a difference in memory of their angels and decided to organize a memorial Walk in the Naperville area. They created a plan for the money raised and agreed that it would be nice to beautify the existing angel garden at Edward Hospital and continue to support the SHARE program with memorial donation opportunities.
The Inaugural A Walk to Remember was held on October 15, 2005, National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Over 300 participants gathered at the Grand Pavilion along Naperville’s Riverwalk. More than $20,000 was raised for the local SHARE program. The support of the Edward Foundation, sponsors, donors, and the hundreds of families who participated in the first Walk truly helped to make it a success.
